Wounded Vision

"...The trauma the seeps through our eyes..."

I remember a sibling speaking to me one day about how a friend of theirs asked them in private after meeting me "What happened to your sister? I can see in her eyes she's been through some things?"

I live with CPTSD and knowing that I couldn't completely hide it with my eyes, actually fascinated me. It made me wonder, "How much do our eyes tell our story? How much seeps out of our vision without even knowing? Should we even try to hide it?"

One day I woke up and had a case of subconjunctival hemorrhage in both of my eyes and thought I would take advantage of this condition and use it for this concept or idea with self portraits, portraying the fear and wounds we carry behind our subconscious that keeps us defensive.
